Our bamboo straws are made from whole bamboo stalks and not recompressed bamboo, which makes them more durable and unique (no two straws are the same).
Depending on how often you use and care for them, a general rule of thumb is 12 months. As they are natural products not all are made equally and some will last months while others may last years. For the germophobes amongst us, or those fortunate enough to be rolling in cash, by all means use them as disposable straws and simply purchase more online right here!
The short answer is no - our straws are flavour neutral and should not affect the taste of your drinks in any way. In saying that, we appreciate that everyone is different and that some may have more heightened senses than others. If you start to notice a weird taste or see any significant discolouration, it's probably time to think about replacing them.
If you rinse your straw out in a timely manner after each use they shouldn't retain any flavours. If you choose to drink red wine or coffee through your straw (who are we to judge?!) and let it sit for hours without cleaning, common sense suggests that something will be retained in the process (a headache perhaps?). If this happens, simply give the straw a good scrub with your cleaning tool and some boiling vinegar water and any remnants should be removed.
Come and visit our stall at the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets - every Friday and Saturday between 4pm and 9pm on the promenade opposite Cavill Avenue.
We hope you enjoy your bamboo straws!
